Old School

There is nothing better than a band you love coming back together for a reunion tour. This is why I'm sooooo stoked for August 11^th. I will be going to see Something Corporate play at the 9:30 Club in DC. First of all, I've never seen Something Corporate in concert before, so check 1 for excitement. Adding to the excitement is that I'm meeting up with my friend from high school that I haven't seen in ummm 7 years. Yes we both live in DC but our lives are crazy busy with work, social obligations, family, moving etc, so we have yet to have matching free dates. Sad that our planned meet up is 3 months away but what an awesome venue to meet up at.  Soco (something corporate for all your non punksters out there) reminds me of high school. I may have kissed a boy while drinking in high school and then gone off to kiss someone else later that night and drive the first guy to sing "Drunk Girl" on his drunken walk home. Sorry Maitland, I still feel bad.

Punk Rock Princess was one of the first songs on the first mixed CD Kyle ever made me. The start of my love affair with punk music and Mister Man who was my garage band king.

I connect with the lyrics, and though they may not be as poignant as some other musicians they still get to me and I crave certain songs depening on how I'm feeling. This band brings me back to my high school days and reminds me of so many people thay I can't help but grin while I sing along.

To wrap it up, Something Corporate is awesome and I'm ecstatic to see them in August!  Maybe I'll see you there, I'll be the one freaking out. Good thing the music is loud or else you'd be paying to hear Lauren's karaoke performance of soco.
