Unless you're Peter Pan, growing up is inevitable.
Do you remember all the things you wanted to be as a kid? My roomie to be asked me today what I wanted to be when I "grew up" and it got me thinking. I had a million things I wanted to be...
A model. I've always been a little Laurencentric (I doodle my own name on note pads.) Modeling would be the perfect thing for me, I would get to sleep in, and lay around looking pretty, bored, and pouty. Most people in the modeling industry are in it because they live and breathe fashion but I would get into it simply because I want pretty pictures of myself. I remember this one time in middle school having my sister follow me around the park taking pictures of me. (I'll have to dig through the bins of pictures my mom has to find them one of these days, because they're hilarious)
A chef. I love to cook, and at one point I wanted to go to culinary school. However it may have been a good decision not to go as was evident by Dave and my preparation of dinner last night. Let's just say it was less than stellar. Oh and I tend to cry (like mascara running down my cheeks) when I chop onions.
A wedding planner. I think all little girls love pretending to be a bride. I used to dress up in my moms nightgowns and do that ridiculously slow, one foot, together, and then the other foot down the isle walk. As I developed my personality the planner in me took over the want to be a bride and voila. Maybe I'll get my chance, because I'm assisting with a wedding planning company in May! So here's hoping one dream comes true.
Travel author. I grew up traveling and I would have loved to gotten paid to travel the world and write about my finds. I think it would be an amazing job.
Stay at home mom. My family makes me so happy and my mom is the best role model. I always thought I would find my fulfillment in having kids, a husband, and raising a family. We'll see about that one too.
*The baby in the picture isn't mine but my cousins...and I hope my kids are as cute as hers.
My mom likes to tell the story about when she was driving me to pre-school and I said that I wanted to be a doctor. She was excited until we drove past a Wendy's and I then said, "or I could work at Wendy's." I think I broke her heart then. Oh well what are you gonna do?
You are beautiful and a great writer! (The travel author sounds fun -- or working for the Travel Channel on some show where you get to travel!) You will be awesome at whatever you do! I'm sorry we haven't kept in touch very well but I look forward to seeing you accomplish amazing things!
