Carpe Dentum

Friday nights at the end of the Rosslyn Key Bridge they show movies. Last year was an 80's theme (which sadly I never made it to because I love me some 80's) but this year they've tackled the 90's. We watched Mrs. Doubtfire last night and it was funny. It was probably funnier now that I'm older and I can pick up some of the adult humor. My friend Anne and I kept looking at each other like, "woah this joke...i JUST got it."

Example:
Mrs. Doubtfire: Do you know what language they speak in England?
Monkey Puppet: Pakistani?
Mrs. Doubtfire: That's right. In many stores they do.

Cracks my ass up

It was a bunch of fun although from this picture Lindsey and my boyfriend's don't look so enthralled.
BUT we had fun so that's all that really matters. And I'm such a mom that I brought the bug spray to
keep those little critters away.

I'm a lucky girl.

A taste of home

I'll take two...of everything.

Somehow my blog seems to have been taken over with posts about food. And if I was insecure, or fat I might care, but I'm not so I don't. Plus I have discovered some amazing places, such as the Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe that I want to share with people.

I loved growing up in Germany and Heideleberg was my favorite city that I was lucky enough to live in. So naturally I was ecstatic when my best friend (you should all know who she is by now) Megan came back from a visit home to Germany with this information that there was a bakery in Arlington that had German pastries, and brotchen (bread). Not only did this bakery have authentic food, but the owner himself came from our beloved Heidelberg. Obviously Megan and I had to go check it out for ourselves....and I must say we weren't disappointed.

I had a bratwurst with sauerkraut, a marzipan pig, and a soft pretzel. Meg bought some cookies that we enjoyed immensely. I think I'll be returning quite soon for round two.

Me with my marzipan pig
(pigs are considered good luck in Germany)
